Green Clay (Lu Ni)

Green clay is mainly produced in Huanglong Mountain, Dingshu, Yixing. It is commonly known as "the green clay of this mountain." The raw ore is light green, or beige (low temperature), brown (suitable temperature), or bronze (high temperature) after firing. The green clay of this mountain is a flaky mass of mud. The surface of the original ore is as delicate and smooth as a shell, almost free of sand. After firing, the texture is rich, the color is shiny and translucent. Green clay is relatively rare, and its subdivisions include ink green clay, bushan green clay and sesame green clay.
