350 Year Dragon Kiln Woodfired Coarse Clay Gaiwan (Unglazed)
 
These Dragon Kiln Woodfired Coarse Clay Gaiwans were fully handmade by "Yuntao Old Clay" studio we met in Yunnan. They are specialised in makng woodfired teaware with their ancient Dragon Kiln (龍窯) with 350 years history. This gaiwan is woodfired at 1220 degree Cel.
 
Their design is very simple and very coarse. If you are looking for perfectly designed and crafted gaiwan. This one may not be your choice.  The gaiwan is not perfectly shaped and the clay between filter and the gaiwan are not perfectly sealed. However this is exactly how gaiwans are handmade and used in hundreds of years ago. Simple and Useful. 
 
Another reason we insist on getting this gaiwan is the clay they used is very very natural. Naturally aged, without much glazing or coloring. Displaying the untouched nature of "Clay". Purely woodfired in an ancient kiln with a history of 350 years. If you like simple woodfired clay teaware. This collection will definitely catch you and yor teafriends attenton. Their name is carved on the top of the lid. 雲龍柴燒 (Yuntao Dragon Kiln Woodfired). 福 (Bless) is carved on the body.
 
Each pieces is fully handmade, there will be slight variation in terms of glaze pattern, painting detail, shape & size
